Summer Open Campus Events Held

Update: August 19, 2026

This summer, ¹û¶³APP held a total of three Open Campus events at its Mitaka Campus over a total of three days, beginning with Open Campus in English on Saturday, July 4, followed by events on Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15. We welcomed many visitors from Japan and abroad.

The events featured "A Guide to Understanding ¹û¶³APP," a presentation by President Shoichiro Iwakiri and Akiko Fujii, Director, Center for Teaching and Learning, as well as a special lecture by an ¹û¶³APP graduate. Sample classes covering the wide range of fields characteristic of a liberal arts education were also offered. After the sample classes, many high school students and prospective applicants stayed in the classrooms to engage in discussions with faculty members.

We also offered numerous student-led programs, including campus tours conducted by student tour guides, "Let's talk with ¹û¶³APP students!," where visitors could speak with current students about student life at ICU, and panel discussions with students living in the dormitories. Visitors asked the students a wide variety of questions and sought their advice, particularly about campus life, providing an opportunity to address concerns and questions they had about their lives at ICU after enrollment.

We received many comments from participants, including: "The curriculum is unlike that of any other university, allowing students to go beyond the traditional boundaries between the humanities and sciences and discover what they truly want to pursue. It made me want to learn even more"; "Seeing the campus and meeting people in person made ¹û¶³APP very appealing to me and made me want to apply"; "All of the students I met were wonderful people with a strong sense of who they are, and they made me want to study at a university like this"; "The sample class was unique and interesting, and I had a lot of fun learning"; and "I was impressed by the campus's abundant natural surroundings and by how vibrant and engaged everyone was."

We would like to thank all the prospective students and their parents and guardians who visited us despite the summer heat. We will continue to hold both in-person and online events, and we hope you will join us.
